FYI, this story is more than a year old

TCL Electronics has officially launched the first ever 8K television, first revealed at this year's CES convention in Las Vegas in January.

The TCL X10 QLED TV, which took home the 8K TV Gold Award of the Year at CES, will be available in New Zealand later in the year, with the exact arrival date announced in September 2019.

TCL New Zealand country manager James Keene says, “This year, TCL's 8K TV will propel at-home entertainment to new heights. Our dedicated team are excited to unveil the latest innovation to Kiwis, as we continue on our journey of delivering  world class viewing experiences.

The TV utilises advanced technologies to provide better visuals and sound, as well as artificial intelligence capabilities, enabling viewers to control compatible devices in their home with voice commands.

The voice controlled remote syncs with Google Assistant, not currently available in New Zealand, and Works with Alexa, Amazon's voice-controlled assistant. Using this feature, users can search for shows, set reminders and more. This is also available of TCL's broader 2019 range, including the X7 QLED TV, C8 Series and P8M Series, not yet available, and the S6800 Series which is out now.

Keene says, “The goal of our AI-IN system is to turn the TCL Television into the heart of the home. We want to make lives more intelligent for our customers, as well as provide the ultimate experience that tantalises the senses.

When it comes to display, TCL Electronics states the TV has the ‘highest picture resolution in the world' with Quantum Dot display technology making this possible. According to the company, it has 16 times more pixels than HD TV and four times more than 4K TV.

The soundbar is built-in and has been tuned by Onkyo with Dolby Atmos audio and sound base.
