Powered by ‘software robots’ (which aren’t robots in the received sense of the word, but are software programmed to perform various tasks), Robotic Process Automation is an advanced form of business process automation accelerating common, often repetitive, actions. RPA seeks to emulate and replace human activity, often in the areas of document processing, data entry, and information transfer. Most RPA vendors take a ‘low-code/no-code’ approach, making RPA tools more accessible to people who know the processes they wish to automate, but don’t (necessarily) know how to write software programs.
